Union Pacific To Invest $1 Billion In Nebraska After 150 Years Of Service
Union Pacific Chairman and CEO Jim Young announced Friday that the company will invest $1 billion in Nebraska rail upgrades over the next 7 years. Across the state, the funds will be spent on three major projects. First, Union Pacific will use $70 million to expand capacity, add track, and update technology at its North Platte rail yard, which is already the largest railroad classification yard in the world. AAR Reports Increase in Weekly Rail Traffic
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Jan. 26, 2012 – The Association of American Railroads (AAR) today reported an increase in weekly rail traffic for the week ending January 21, 2012, with U.S. railroads originating 287,734 carloads, up 1.6 percent compared with the same week last year. Intermodal volume for the week totaled 219,706 trailers and containers, up 3 percent compared with the same week last year.

AAR Reports Gains in Weekly Rail Traffic
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Dec. 1, 2011 – The Association of American Railroads (AAR) today reported gains in weekly rail traffic, with U.S. railroads originating 265,304 carloads for the week ending Nov. 26, 2011, up 4 percent compared with the same week last year. Intermodal volume for the week totaled 190,866 trailers and containers, up 3.7 percent compared with the same week last year.

AAR Reports Mixed Weekly Rail Traffic Results
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Oct. 27, 2011 – The Association of American Railroads (AAR) today reported mixed results for weekly rail traffic, with U.S. railroads originating 301,864 carloads for the week ending Oct. 22, 2011, down 0.5 percent compared with the same week last year. Intermodal volume for the week totaled 245,404 trailers and containers, up 4.2 percent compared with the same week last year.
